Mission

First Presbyterian Church of Little Rock understands our mission is to seek to live as God’s people. In our shared journey of faith, we attempt to live out what we claim to be and to acknowledge God’s claim upon our lives. As a reformed Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) we do this in the following ways:

Worship – The center of our life together is worship observing the sacraments and traditional liturgy of our reformed Presbyterian tradition and the lectionary cycle.

Service – As a downtown congregation, we seek to be faithful to our call to service as a small congregation within this urban environment. Using the resources that God has given us we commit ourselves to our location at 800 Scott Street. We are committed to service through providing space and resources for non-profit community service organizations serving the poor and the oppressed of the city. At this time Stewpot, Street Clinic of Entergy and Baptist Health Systems, clothing room and Regional Aids Interfaith Network are housed in our facility. We are committed to advocacy for and service on behalf of people in need in the city of Little Rock. As we are able, we will provide space and resources to nonprofit community organizations that serve the city.

Congregational Care and Fellowship – We support each other in times of crisis, illness, grief and uncertainty and celebrate with each other moments of joy and happiness. Our life as a congregation includes social opportunities for people to gather and play, eat, sing and talk. The congregation comes from all parts of the county to celebrate the joy of urban life by taking part together in cultural and political events in the city.

Education – Education is a significant aspect of our life. Our education program attempts to provide a balance of educational opportunities in biblical literacy, theological study and the history of our faith as it has evolved from ancient times through the reformation and into our present day. We attempt to understand where this faith has led us and is leading us. At this time we are particularly trying to understand what it means to be reformed and always reforming in the light of scripture.
